It has been called “the new morality.”  It’s really not new at all.  It’s the old immorality that has been labeled “situation ethics.”  Those who support situation ethics are saying that there are no absolutes, nothing that is necessarily right or wrong.  It all depends on the situation.  The fable of Robin Hood who robbed from the rich to give to the poor would be considered “right” according to situation ethics.  Two consenting adults committing adultery would be okay too.  The truth is it doesn’t work that way.  God’s Word is clear, “those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God” (Galatians 5:21).  When Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me,”  he did not offer freedom to indulge in the delights of the sinful nature, or to rationalize what is right or wrong.  Instead, he offered a challenge, “let him deny himself and follow me” (Matthew 16:24).  The sinful nature is no friend of Christ.  It cannot be converted; it must be crucified.  To fight the good fight of faith is to follow him, not our flesh.  Come learn Christ and his will for your life.
