“Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1), was the request of our Lord’s first disciples.  That is a proper request because - contrary to popular belief, prayer does not begin with man.  It begins with God.  Prayer is conversation with God.  But it is God who begins the conversation when He talks to us through His Word (Bible).  Therefore, we must be “taught” to pray, as we respond to His truth and promises revealed in the Bible.  Jesus highlighted these truths and promises of Scripture when He taught his disciples what we commonly call “The Lord’s Prayer.”  This prayer is a teaching prayer to show us how and for what we ought to pray.    During these next weeks of summer I invite you to “stay tuned” to this 30 second message (reading time) for the Lord’s instruction.  Better yet, please join us on Sunday mornings for 60 minutes with the Lord and His Word.
